Mission Statement

The Kentucky Sleep Society is an organization of medical professionals and patient advocates committed to promoting quality in the practice of sleep medicine and educating the public, health care professionals and community leaders in the importance of sleep and related disorders.

History
KSS is one of eight state level sleep societies in the United States. KSS was first organized in 1998 and incorporated in 1999.

Purposes and Goals

  • To establish, update, and maintain standards for the evaluation and treatment of sleep and sleep related disorders.

  • To establish and continue to review a standard diagnostic classification of such disorders.

  • To provide a forum for the exchange of information pertaining to sleep and sleep related disorders and to increase public awareness of such disorders.

  • To promote education and training in sleep medicine and to foster related research.

  • To represent the sleep disorders discipline in relation to other healthcare professional organizations, federal and local regulatory bodies and federal and private health insurers.
