The Baptist Health Sleep Center Lexington  is committed to helping you live a restful and balanced life. Our team of Board-certified physicians and skilled staff combines academic-based expertise with cutting-edge technology to provide the most advanced comprehensive sleep medicine care in the area. We are accredited through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and The Joint Commission.
Referrals are not required unless mandated by your insurance company.  We accept patients who are age 13 and older.
Our facility provides comfortable, quiet and relaxing private sleeping suites featuring sophisticated equipment for monitoring sleep stages, breathing patterns, heart activity, blood oxygen levels and body movements.
The Baptist Health Sleep Center is designed to help people discover the cause of their sleep problems and determine the most effective treatment options available to them.

The first visit to the center is a consultation appointment. Our staff will gather sleep and medical history information. Bed-partners are encouraged to share any symptoms or behaviors they have noticed, which can be very helpful to physicians when diagnosing a disorder.

If a sleep study is required, you will be scheduled during your normal sleeping period to undergo testing in the center. You may also be asked to stay for additional testing and evaluation.

Each suite has a comfortable, queen size bed, flat-screen TV with satellite, DVD,  radio, iPod dock, wireless Internet and private restroom – all the conveniences of being at home.
Some patients may also qualify for home sleep testing.  If so, patients will complete patient education and take a portable sleep testing device home.  The unit will then be returned to the center the following business day.

The importance of good quality sleep for all age groups is becoming more and more recognized.  Busy schedules, shift work, and body size and shape are just some of the factors which influence sleep.  Sleep disordered breathing usually develops over time and a person may not realize they have a problem.  Other household members may complain of the person’s loud snoring or witness pauses in their breathing during sleep.  Left untreated, sleep disordered breathing can lead to increased health risks, including:  high blood pressure, heart disease, weight gain, type 2 diabetes, and stroke.  Those with sleep disordered breathing are also at increased risk of traffic accidents due to drowsiness.

The Ephraim McDowell Sleep Disorders Center is a six bed facility serving the central Kentucky area.  Accredited by the American Association of Sleep Medicine, the Center performs both in-lab and home sleep testing under the direction of Board Certified sleep physicians.  Rooms feature a queen sized bed, cable TC and private restroom.  Qualified staff members are available to meet the needs of patients and answer questions.

Referral Type:  Physician referral for consult with one of the Center’s Board Certified sleep physicians is required.
